My maternal family lineage includes a long line of practitioners of Traditional Chinese medicine. My mother grew up in pre-war China, with virtually no contact with allopathic (western/modern) medicine. She kept her trust in Chinese Medicine, and skepticism toward allopathic treatments, even after my family moved to Germany in the early sixties. I remember the bitter herbal infusions and other “disgusting” teas that my mother had me drink while I was in bed with measles, high fevers, and other childhood afflictions.

As a result of my family tradition, I grew up with confidence and trust in “alternative” ways of treating illness; in fact, I’ve never taken antibiotics or other pharmaceuticals in my life, with one exception (during and after the cesarean section for the birth of my daughter). Growing up in Germany, the birthplace of Dr Samuel Hahnemann (who formally developed the homeopathic system) I soon became acquainted with another “alternative” form of medicine, homeopathy. That acquaintance has become a lifelong passion for this profound system of healing. I am very grateful to be able to integrate my passion, my profession, and my philosophical views within the practice of homeopathy.

In 1990 my husband and I moved to Nova Scotia, to be part of the Shambhala community in Halifax. Two years later, I enrolled in The School of Homeopathy’s distance learning program, graduating with a diploma (DHom) in 1997. After a period of supervised practice I earned my Practitioner’s diploma (PDHom) in 1998. During my years of study, I traveled several times a year to clinical training programs in the US, Canada, and the UK. I continue to attend post-graduate programs and symposia led by internationally recognized practitioners, several times a year, so I stay in touch with the newest developments in homeopathy. I have been treating patients since 1996 and since 2004 I have been doing supervision for graduating students. Being fluent in English and German, I offer homeopathic consultations in both languages.
